We leave for LA, Jean-Pierre in his convertible and me in our car to give it back to Alamo. Jean-Pierre, who has less language problem
than me , is in charge of the negotiations (the reimbursement of the bill for Grand Canyon)
and all is ok. I hope the mechanics of Alamo will discover the problem during their maintenance (already they had not changed oil) for the next rental.
The rest of the day is spent in doing some shopping and preparations for a party the next day, organized for the anniversary of their son.
Tonight, our friends take us to discover a facet of the country culture, which seems a little out of tune in the suburbs of Los Angeles; it looks
more like in the depths of Texas or Arizona. In a saloon, an orchestra (4 musicians that night) distills the old tunes of western, twirling couples
of cowboys and girls of modern times. The bar keeps track of many pioneers and settlers .

It's Sunday, and Jean-Pierre isn't at work; we take the opportunity to go picnicking on the beach in Malibu and have our first contact
with the Pacific Ocean. If the sea is calm, the power of the waves is phenomenal and, although Breton and accustomed to the Atlantic waves,
I'm always rolling up my swimming trunks after every wave
.
The water temperature is cool (it's like at home in Brittany) and swimming is tonic. We find some pictures of the television series (Baywatch)
but we haven't see Pamela.

After lunch, we climb (some still napping) to Point Dume, site apparently very used for the filming of commercials and films. From above, we have a panoramic view of the beach at Malibu and Dume Cove, on the other side of the tip.

We return to the beach by road, while enjoying superb properties and lovely abloom gardens.

Today, we go for a ride in a convertible, available to us by our friends. We go to visit Paramount Ranch, old film sets now owned by the National Park Service; we will not be disturbed, as we're alone on this site. Among the latest shootings carried out, that may be mentioned Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. What is stunning in this kind of decoration is that you can go next door without seeing the trickery. It must indeed examine closely to see the subterfuge. If you look carefully, maybe you will realize that the foundation stone and the fireplace in the first picture are fiberglass and not in stones. It's only at the end of our walk that we discovered the trompe-l'oeil effect.

And now, it's over . As Jean-Pierre has an appointment for business in downtown LA,
he brings us off at the airport, after a last view of the ocean (where he fishes spiny lobsters!)
After waiting to see our luggage pass the baggage check, we have a look at the plane that will take us back to London. During the flight,
we were treated to a parade of almost all the crew (just if the captain didn't come in person) who insisted that we close our porthole pane.
But not so! !
